Introductions anew..

ok... so one more round of introductions to initiate the newcomer to the group...

Alley Cat (aka Kytten) is Jen (which you can figure out as soon as you visit her blog because thats all it says... really :P) and she lives in Michigan, quite close to UofMich.

and.... ermm... lets just say the last month made it quite painful to leave Ann Arbor :(
*sigh*

oh well... distance makes the heart grow fonder >_<

anyway... then theres sam... the asexual amoeba floating through a digital life... then again... if his computer has a gender he's probly the opposite of it >_<

H3lios, Supernova, Medusa, Aeris, Raddy, all part of NBS (nonsense bullshit syndrome)
Helios is my old friend from school, the rest mentioned above are his friends and through linear extrapolation... my friends... despite my never having met them.

Saber slayer - mrinal also an old classmate.. lots of politics in him. youll see him in the papers some day... "Idle/lame-ass blogger saves baby from ferocious toaster" >_< LMAO jus kidding mrinal. youll make the news in better ways than that >_<.

Noone = anish... well most recent non-addition to this non-blog.. anything related to him will automatically burn and then cease to ever have existed... including things like non-Hard-drives and non-CDRoms. >_< remember the flaming hardware anish? :D :D (he fried his computer quite literally.... a lovely toast.. only thing missing was the butter)

the rest have either slipped my mind or have been unfortunate enough to be procrastinated by me to a further date...

iv not blogged in ages.. sorry gang.

  • You'd be very surprised how much I don't fit that stereotype now... I actually miss being the resident computer geek I was back in 10th grade. Social life is overrated.

  • Bad question. Chances are you'll get a unanimous 'America sucks!'

Dubai's a great place, but in retrospect I don't think I'd want to spend the rest of my life there. It's a great place to visit now and then but I can't stand the general populace and self righteous locals (as compared to locals in Oman and Bahrain who tend to be a lot more friendly). Tokyo, I couldn't tell you, but hey if you're into anime and... whatever else it is they're into, go for it.

What do I think of America? Honestly, there's no single way to answer that question. You have a bloody history of minority oppression, something you're not completely out of yet. And at the same time, the ideals on which the country was founded are not something that even the most cynical contemporary pundits can simply dismiss. And the jury's still out. Sure, the current administration and Congressional leadership is far from the best around (which is a HUGE understatement), but that doesn't mean you have to judge an entire nations based on their actions.

So yeah, there you have it. :o

  • Come down to Texas. You know you want to.

By Blogger Sam, at 3:27 PM

  • That's because outside of UT, there really isn't that much good about it in the first place....

    Michigan has to be better.

By Blogger Sam, at 8:13 PM

  • To be fair, I think Granholm is one of the better governors out there, especially compared to the likes of the Arnoldator, and Jeb Bush in Florida... oh, and Rick Perry down here in Texas.

I do enjoy the weather here though, it's really nice. Except when it rains. I can't stand rain. I just walked back from the library and now I'm soaked. And tired. I'm going to get some sleep I think... 'night. :o

  • " Bad question. Chances are you'll get a unanimous 'America sucks!'"

Personally I admire the US. It's built itself up to be the most powerful nation on earth today. It has a very successful economy and is the worlds oldest democracy. most of its populace live in comfort. The US has done well for itself.

There are always problems in any nation, and mionority oppression is one of them (although I disagree with affirmative action). What irks me really are the double standards wrt treaties etc. THAT can be annoying.

By Blogger Sabre Slayer, at 1:29 PM

  • Well when I said 'unanimous', I didn't include you, for good reason. ;)

And when I come down to Dubai, I'm going to change your viewpoint of affirmative action. I know you're fairly right-centrist, but scientific and sociological backing for such programs is overwhelming.

And about treaties, you can't really make blanket statements like that. You have to understand the political climate. I'm guessing it's the CTBT that has you irked, along with the Kyoto protocol maybe? (Never figured you to be a bleeding heart liberal environmentalist...)

By Blogger Sam, at 10:16 PM

  • ummm... its not all that hard to make a nation do well for itself (economically) when it has a meager 290 million people spread over shitloads of land out of which less than 10% would be rocky/uncultivable. they have more than enough room for a solid industry backing, plenty of natural resources, and so much wood that only someone like dubbya could manage to screw it all up >_<

hell, if they just grew potatoes and corn alone, they could feed more than half the world with it.

But cram the place full like India or China... or even Dubai for that matter (which has a FAR higher pop. density) and watch how the whole thing falls face-flat without some VERY skilled economic maneuvering/manipulating... because their resources will be unable to handle the streching.

politically, i admit, theyve played their cards well... till now.

Minority opression is something that is generally overemphasised and thus it becomes overcompensated... which leads to minority appeasement... which is THE most rediculous situation where a community has a LOT of political power BECAUSE of its insignificance. that makes no logical sense whatsoever.

we have the same problem in India, and recently.. in the US.
The black and hispanic communities are not, by any means, doing better than the whites, but now its almost impossible for a common man to press charges against a Black person without being accused of racism. and in India, the last president, K. R. Narayanan, why was he made president? because he was from a minority community. he couldnt speak Hindi at ALL, spoke english Pathetically.. He had a limited education (and considering he's supposed to be the ONE MAN who represents our country in the international community... its all shameful). Watching him make a speech on TV made me want to bury myself.
the new president, Abdul Kalam was FAR better, a scientist, speaks good english, hindi and more, an intelligent person... etc.

The only reason we had to bear K. R. Narayanan was because of that rediculous "minority appeasement". What do we get out of it? well.. we get India to look like the village of the world. beh.

and Medusa, :) Jen IS gonna get bored for a few months.... but Jen, never fear! ill be back and then youll forget what it means to be bored!!! >_< LOL!

    :)

Not true in the least. I'll post more once I'm done with finals.
